Swarovski illuminates the silver screen along with stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Kat Dennings, Rene Russo and Anthony Hopkins in the motion picture adaptation of Thor, from Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment, opening nationwide on May 6th. Academy Award® and BAFTA winning costume designer, Alexandra Byrne, took on the task of adapting the comic book looks of the gods to wearable costumes. She called on Swarovski to help finish some of the more standout designs including Frigga’s (Rene Russo) ceremonial dress and cape as well as Loki’s (Tom Hiddleston) chainmail armour. Byrne used over 45,000 SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS and over 70 crystal transfers to add the much needed sparkle and drama to help these costumes jump off the screen.

When Priscilla Queen of the Desert The Musical arrived on Broadway at the Palace Theatre on February 28, 2011, Swarovski plays a dazzling supporting role. The musical brings to the stage the well-known story of three friends on the road trip of a lifetime who travel across the remote Australian desert on their bus named “Priscilla,” to Alice Springs where they have been contracted to perform a drag show.

Attendees at the 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards, along with the millions of viewers who tuned in to watch the telecast last evening, were treated to a spectacular yet intimate set design created by Brian Stonestreet featuring over 3,000 hand crafted strands of custom designed Swarovski crystal weighing close to 3,000lbs and shimmering with over 30,000 crystals. This is the first time Swarovski crystal has graced the ballroom of The Golden Globe Awards. The crystals hung around the room as elaborate chandelier-inspired installations.
