SWAROVSKI STARS ALONGSIDE THE PHANTOM IN THIS YEAR’S MUST SEE SHOW, “LOVE NEVER DIES”
Award winning costume and set designer Bob Crowley uses nearly 300,000 crystals by the world’s leading producer of precision-cut crystal, Swarovski, to dress the leading ladies of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s eagerly awaited follow on to “The Phantom of the Opera.”
The sparkles play an integral part of the story with the infatuated Phantom dressing true love Christine in a beautiful hand cut Swarovski pendant. The jewel later becomes the pièce de résistance as a magnificent choker, made with over 900 hand set crystals provided by Swarovski, in her crystallized look inspired by Gustav Klimt.

Interview with Mark Fast about his piece, “The Ascension of Beauty” for Toronto’s Luminato arts festival. Fast uses Brookfield Place as a giant knitting machine, looping white ropes through the soaring Allen Lambert Galleria, culminating in a tiered knit dress with Swarovski crystals, inspired by the Lancome rose.

With the announcement of the 2010 Swarovski Award nominees in March, Swarovski approached each designer with an opportunity to create the ultimate Swarovski piece to celebrate the category for which they were nominated. The designers went to work, utilizing Swarovski’s crystals, trims, and beads to evolve their ideas for what is now part of an exclusive compilation entitled: The CFDA Swarovski Award Collection. The collection will be sold with proceeds benefitting the CFDA’s educational initiatives. As each designer turned their sketch into a reality, Swarovski and film directors Josh Melnick and Xander Charity documented the process by creating a short film, BRILLIANT.
